Read, contemplate and commit to memory these 8 facts about ADD / ADHD:

1. ADD / ADHD is physiological, not intentional. It is just as real, but also just as treatable, as a broken leg.

2. Some people learn to master their ADHD / ADD in time, but it cannot be "wished" or "willed" away any more easily than a broken bone can.

3. In AD/HD brain scans, the frontal lobe appears to be dreaming when the person is awake: This area regulates sequencing, time, direction, organization, short-term memory and impulse control.

4. People with ADD or ADHD want to listen, behave, focus and succeed, and often try hard, even when it's not apparent to others.

5. It's deeply hurtful to ADDers when others confuse memory, time, impulse or focus problems with a lack of caring.

6. Like most people, ADDers respond best to positive reinforcement when they do well, rather than negative feedback when they fall short.

7. Despite its challenges, ADD and ADHD traits include many beneficial gifts, such as high IQ and ultra creativity. Without ADDers, many inventions and works of art would not exist today.

8. Studies show that, long term, if ADDers do fail to thrive, it is related far more to feeling misunderstood and inadequate, and to the negative reactions of others, than to the ADD/ADHD itself.
